Emergency Preparedness Class

Built in 1731, the Jamesport Meeting House has withstood many storms, including a fire triggered by a lightning strike in 1900. Is your household prepared for a natural or man-made disaster? Learn how to best to prepare, respond and recover from an emergency at a FREE New York State Emergency Preparedness Class on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m., at the Jamesport Meeting House. The class is open to the public and is being hosted by the Greater Jamesport Civic Association and presented by New York State Homeland and Emergency Services. Each participating household will receive a free emergency preparedness kit. Advance registration is required.

Jamesport Meeting House Chorus America 250 Concert

Join us as the Jamesport Meeting House Chorus celebrates America 250 with song on Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m. The concert will feature the inspiring Song of Democracy by Walt Whitman set to music by Howard Hanson, the Clemens Sanctus, Riversong by Andy Beck, and Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat by Frank Loesser, The Water is Wide and special arrangements of your favorite patriotic songs. Tickets are $20. Advance purchase is recommended.

This is My Story, This is My Song – Sat., May 2 & Sun., May 3

Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre present a musical review, “This is My Story, This is my Song,” on Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jamesport Meeting House.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and may be purchased at the door. 

Mudflats String Band – Original Takes on Traditional Music, April 25

Jamesport Meeting House invites you to tap your feet to the music of Mudflats String Band on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. Inspired by traditional Americana music rooted in southern Appalachian Celtic fiddle and African banjo, these talented North Fork musicians blend rich harmonies and twin fiddle flair into a fresh, contemporary sound.

Rites of Spring Music Festival Piano Marathon April 18 & 19

Rites of Spring Music Festival, in collaboration with Stony Brook University Music Department, presents the Sixth Annual Piano Marathon at the Jamesport Meeting House on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. each day.

Rusty Kransky Celebrates the Life & Music of Singer Nancy LaMott on April 12

Enjoy an intimate concert of classics from the Great American Songbook on Sunday, April 12, when Rusty Kransky performs a tribute to the late Nancy LaMott, a highly acclaimed cabaret singer. Accompanied by Jeffrey Wentz at piano, Mr. Kransky will sing several of Ms. LaMott’s original arrangements of familiar songs by Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, David Friedman, Johnny Mercer, Henry Mancini and others.

East End Jazz “Voices of Vision: An All- Star Tribute to Women’s History Month” March 7

Join East End Jazz at the Jamesport Meeting House on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. for an extraordinary concert honoring Women’s History Month. “Voices of Vision: An All-Star Tribute to Women’s History Month” will showcase the music of iconic female jazz figures such as Billie Holiday and Mary Lou Williams, as well as many other timeless classics and modern masterpieces that highlight the works of female composers.

Soprano Taylor Burgess Performs “Winter Moon” February 8

Direct from the stage of Porgy and Bess at the Metropolitan Opera, the Jamesport Meeting House welcomes back soprano Taylor Burgess, a Riverhead High School graduate, on Sunday, February 8 at 5 p.m., performing a program entitled, “Winter Moon: A Tribute to the Harlem Renaissance.”

Accompanied by pianist Eunha So, “Winter Moon” is an evocative tribute to the legendary poets and writers of the 20th century Harlem Renaissance. This powerful celebration of Black History Month will take listeners on a journey through time as seen through the eyes of literary giants such as Langston Hughes, Laurence Hope and James Weldon Johnson. The concert program features beautiful impressionistic works of Harry T. Burleigh and Duke Ellington, and contemporary compositions by Ricky Ian Gordon and Pete Malinverni, immersed in the beauty of Black musical tradition, from the deep roots of Spirituals to the elegance of Art Songs and the soulful energy of Jazz.

1731 Series Presents Cellist Tommy Mesa and Pianist Ilya Yakushev

The 1731 Series, which brings internationally recognized musicians to perform at the Jamesport Meeting House, presents the incomparable duo of Cuban-American cellist Dr. Tommy Mesa and globally-acclaimed pianist Ilya Yakushev on Saturday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. This program for this extraordinary concert features Sonata for Cello and Piano by Claude Debussy; Sonata for Cello and Piano No 3., Op. 69 by Ludwig van Beethoven; and Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 19 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
