Our 1731 Series presents an extraordinary concert by Accord Treble Choir on Sunday, November 8 at 4 PM. “There is a Seam” is a musical journey between the passage of seasons, the cycles of dark and light, time and nature and the connections between past and present. The centerpiece of the program is a magnificent eight-movement musical tour of seasonal festivals, Songs for the Wheel of the Year, written for Accord by NYC-based composer Matthew Harris. Harris’ song cycle uses text from renowned poet Annie Finch’s award-winning collection, Calendars. The program takes its title from Finch’s Samhain poem, “Legend says there is a seam / stitching darkness like a name.” Other works on the program include Rumor Mill by Shireen Abu-Khader, River by Joan Szymko and Totari by Laura Jekabsone. Tickets are $20. Advance purchase it recommend.
