The Jamesport Meeting House is pleased to announce an upcoming performance by the exceptional Accord Treble Choir, an all-female a cappella ensemble whose music spans a wide variety of styles, eras and cultures. Richard Wines and Nancy Gilbert are personally delighted to bring Accord’s unique and moving music to the Meeting House, having enjoyed the group’s concerts previouslyThey invite concert-goers to stay after the performance for a meet-the-artists reception.

Accord will perform a program entitled “Mother Earth,” which honors our connection to the earth and the panoply of identities and experiences that fall under the umbrella of “woman.” The first half of the concert highlights the beauty of our planet and our responsibility as humans to care for it. The second half reflects the struggle of being a woman in a patriarchal society, inspires us to envision ourselves as individuals unencumbered by the constraints of sexism and gender discrimination, and dares us to see the world, the planet itself, or a higher power as a feminine being with which we can commune in sisterhood – in a reality free of hierarchy and oppression. Featuring an all-women composers lineup that includes: the eco-cantata “Urgent Earth” by NYC composer Stefania de Kenessey and pieces by Zanaida Robles, Libby Larsen, Chen Yi, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Katerina Gimon, Eva Ugalde, Joan Szymko, and more.
